Well, I am back again. We stopped at another city by the ocean. This time there weren't any of those barking sea lions but the sea gulls fly by in huge packs. They taunt me with the foot steps as the walk across the roof of our home. Then I met the smallest dog that I have ever seen. It didn't bark and it had trouble walking. My dad said it was a boxer puppy. I didn't get to close but it seemed harmless. I wish all dogs were like this little guy. Most just freak me out.
My dad and mom took me for a ride in the Jeep. I sat in my mom's lap watching the ocean as my dad drove us down the beach. I like the smell of ocean. We drove up and down and all around this huge sandbox. Then we stopped and I got out. The sand was everywhere. I dug and dug but there was still more. I even ate some of it. I wouldn't do that again. It might smell like fish but it tasted horrible. I had fun playing in the sand.
I stepped out of the rig into a new world. My mom and dad took me for a walk around the RV park but this time it smelled of fish and I could hear a strange roar in the distance. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw him. The biggest cat ever! He approached and I did my biggest "scaredy cat pose" but he kept coming toward me. He growled and I shrunk. Then out of no where I growled, too. 'What was that sound?' I kept doing it but he started hissing. Now what! That's all the moves I know. So I ran! My mom had my leash, so she ran, too. He followed us. I jumped up onto the picnic table then he sprayed all of the bushes by our home. It stunk! I knew I had to either give up ground or lose. He said, "This was my home not yours." My dad opened the door and I jumped inside the rig. "Can't get me now, big bully!" I meowed. I love being outside. This isn't fair!
I thought that was the fright of my life but NO! Later, I jumped into the Jeep. I love the Jeep. We get to go on bumpy roads. This time they took me to a strange land of sand. A big horn shouted warnings and there were sounds like dogs crying. "Where were we?" My mom said that this is the ocean and those are sea lions. Big dogs to me. I did not like this at all. I dug into the sand and watched as huge birds flew over head. This is not good! Not good at All!. I wanted to be safe and warm in my home. I gave my mom the saddest meow possible then she picked me up and zipped me into her jacket. I felt better. The ocean is not for me!
I had just turned 4 months old. I lived with my sister and my two brothers in a small cage at the Central Missouri Humane Society. My first caretakers were so nice to me. They would play with me and feed me but they never took me home. Day after day, I sat in my little home waiting for a human to adopt me. Months passed and we were growing so fast. Then one day a human couple peered through my window. I jumped up and approached the window. "Look happy, look cute, paw the window," I thought to myself. Humans like that. Then the door opened and she pulled me out. Her face smiled down at me. I purred, "Take me!" They played with me for a long time. I thought this is it. I found my family but then they put me back into the cage. My heart sank. My siblings tried to console me by playing with me, but I kept looking longingly out the cage window. 'Why did they leave me?' Then the next day they were back. The man took me into the play room while the lady filled out some papers. I played so hard trying to impress him. Soon after my caretakers took me to the veterinarian to get spade. When I woke up, the human couple was there. She held me in her arms and kissed me. I tried to purr, but I was too sleepy. When I woke up again, I was in their home. My home! They even gave me a cool name. Lyra! I'm named after a northern star constellation. My human parents travel around the country in a motor coach. My favorite things to do are to go on hikes and eat grasshoppers. I'm almost 10 months old now. I've seen some pretty amazing things. I hope my feline followers enjoy my blog.
